The annual fundraiser for the Bath Youth Meetinghouse and Skatepark is fast approaching! Taking place this year on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 under a big white tent across from Library Park at Patten Free Library, the The Park’s Legendary Chili Chowder Fest (the 14th annual) has become a serious tradition for food lovers all over the Midcoast area. Many of the most beloved restaurants in the area are participating, vying for both the coveted People’s Choice award and the Judge’s Panel award.
Your participation in our annual Chili Chowder Fest makes supporting the youth in our area possible. Our largest fundraiser of the year has become the success that it is because of community minded people like you – thank you!
The teen center continues to be a vital community resource, serving Midcoast teens on a daily basis. Providing a safe place to go after school and on weekends remains our top priority, whether it’s to get something to eat, complete homework or simply hang out. Over the past year, we have enjoyed offering free community events such as movie & game nights and open mic nights, put on by local teenage musicians. We are working diligently to expand the teen services we offer, to meet the ever-growing needs of today’s youth.
Meanwhile, the skatepark continues to be a valuable place for those with a passion for skateboarding, biking, scootering and inline skating, drawing enthusiasts from all over Maine, New England & Canada. We’ve formed relationships with local schools and host student groups on a regular basis. On Saturday mornings, you’ll find youngsters attending our Half Pipes for Half Pints program. Boys & girls between the ages of 6 and 10 have the opportunity to learn new skills under the mentoring guidance of teen skaters. Over the next 12 months, we will be implementing plans to help the skatepark become more financially sustainable, which, in turn, will allow us to expand our teen center services.
